Managing Major Life Changes
Even with changes we want to happen, major transitions are hard to navigate so choosing the right counsellor is vital. It really comes down to how well you can work together and whether there is a connection. Use this site to see if my approach and experience are a good match for you.
Counselling for Major Life Changes
Major life changes can come in many ways. Sometimes we want them, such as retirement or a new job or career change, or moving home or starting a new relationship. But often they’re not, such as redundancy, illness, burnout or bereavement. Either way they create turmoil in our life as things change and we learn how to live with a new normal. This is where counselling for major life changes can help.
Sometimes it will be about finding ways to help you work out what to do. But we also need to learn to come to terms with loss. Even with a deliberate change we may still need to grieve the things we no longer have. When we retire, for example, there may be a sense of loss of purpose and daily structure, or we may miss our former colleagues or be worried about finances.
How Counselling for Major Life Changes Can Help
Grieving and loss may be forced upon us. If a loved one or a pet dies, or declining health and capacity means we can’t do what we used to, we have to find ways of coping. Our lives feel smaller and harder.
Using counselling for major life changes helps us to navigate this, to be able to talk to someone who understands and who may have also experienced similar. To be able to let it all out without judgement or someone trying to fix us. To just be with us whilst we cope with it.
But there may come a time when we want it to change. Counselling for life changes can help here too. In a supporting environment, we can look at how you might move forward. This is where techniques such as coaching and mindfulness can be useful as they help us look to the future and what might work for us.
Therapy for Men
Men are often taught to endure and tough it out rather than engaging with how they feel, but this damages mental health. Counselling specifically for men can help you learn how to live a happier, more fulfilled life.
Coaching and Mentoring
As well as a person-centred counsellor and mindfulness meditation teacher, I also provide coaching and mentoring to help you move towards personal goals. Therapy and counselling is not always about solving problems and coping with difficulties, Coaching and Mentoring can help us build a more satisfying life.
Using and Learning Mindfulness
Mindfulness, or becoming more aware, is an essential skill for counselling, therapy and coaching. I can help you learn how to use and apply it, or help you find ways to use it more effectively.

My Journey of Finding Peace
I’ve always been drawn towards writing and journalling and found it a big help in my own journey. I’ve written a book about my experiences but it also contains guidance on ways to live and thinking patterns. Creating it has helped me and reading it may also help you too.
