I’ve often had people come to me for coaching and skills development or who want to learn mindfulness techniques but we quickly realise that what they really need is counselling support. I’ve also seen people who feel they have resolved major issues and are now wanting to move on with life and thrive, but this needs a different approach from counselling. There are also others who want coaching, mentoring or to learn mindfulness skills to help them learn and grow and to take into their day-to-day life.
My experience and training means I can teach mindfulness skills and help us see how we talk to ourselves and others, together with any limiting beliefs we may have. This is where cognitive-behavioural therapy and short, solution-focused sessions can help as we can get to the root of an issue and help you find a fix for it, or a way of dealing with it.
Coaching and mentoring can help if you are pursuing goals such as career development, weight loss or pain management as it gives both a target and meaningful steps to help achieve it. Obstacles can be identified but with solutions to them and perhaps even rehearsing what to do in certain situations such as interviews or difficult conversations or confrontations.
And of course, if anything comes up that needs investigating via counselling we will be able to move seamlessly into dealing with it. So whatever you need, I can hopefully provide it.
